4.5 mm hook

Stitch marker if desired

Yarn needle for tucking tails

Scissors, or preferred tool, for cutting yarn

Stitches that may be used, US terms:

Ch – Chain
Sl st – slip stitch
SC – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet
DC – Double crochet
TR – Treble crochet
Inc – increase, 2 stitches in same space
Dec – decrease, sc 2 stitches together (invisible or not doesn’t matter)
BLO – back loop only
FLO – front loop only
BO – bobble stitch, yo and pull through 4 times, yo and pull through all 4 stitches on hook
FO isn’t a stitch but means finish off.
Sk isn’t a stitch but means skip
MR also isn’t a stitch but refers to the Magic Ring (optional)

Notes

You may use invisible decreases or standard decreases; the change will be minimal.
I work in continuous rounds but if you are more comfortable with joining at the end of the round and chaining up then go for it! The change would be minimal, make this comfortable for yourself.
Change the colors! Are your pants blue, purple, green? Change your color to suit. Make it yours. Think of this pattern like a very basic recipe, change the spices to suit your taste.
Change the yarn type if you want. If you use thicker yarn then use a bigger hook, thinner yarn use a smaller hook, be aware that the final size of your character will change. (try to stick with one hook size larger than your doll base)
Red words are customization tips/ideas, take them or leave them
I recommend reading through the pattern once before you begin. You don’t have to read every single stitch count, just get a feel for the general layout and any notes to see how you may want to customize.

Pants 4.5 mm In your preferred color

Pant leg, make 2, only finish off first pant leg

	CH 20, attach to join a ring, CH 1 (you could start with a foundation row instead, just be sure to count it as row 1)	20
1-17	SC 20 (if you made your dude shorter or taller , be sure to remove or add equivalent rows as the legs here, or his pants won’t fit) FO first pant leg, short tail, weave in. Make a second pant leg and then continue below.	20
18	Attach the 2nd pant leg to the first pant leg with 4 SC. Do not crochet into these stitches, they will be in between the legs.	36
